Sail Date: 30 November – 3 December 2014
It was a 4day 3night Star Cruise Superstar Libra Penang-Phuket-Krabi package. Though, it wasn’t any regular vacation because we had a Malaysian celebrity, Pak Nil, on board with us!
This special package was only available for a limited time around the end of last year and the only difference is that there were a couple of additional activities organised by Pak Nil and his team that were only made available for cruiser who bought this special package.
So here’s my experience… (Check out Part 1 and Part 2)

The tender boat took about 15-20 minutes to reach Patong Beach, one of the popular beaches in Phuket. We had our tour guide waiting for us by the beach holding a board with the number according to our sticker.
Tip: If you are on free and easy visit, they have a ton of tuk-tuk and cab waiting to score some business from you. If you don’t know the appropriate pricing, do seek advice from the reception counter on ship before visiting the island.
First stop was the Sri Burapa Cashew Nut Factory, known to be an award wining producer and retailer of cashew nut products. They have all types of flavours of cashew nuts – sweet sesame, seaweed, chilli, chocolate, tom yum, etc. They even have cashew nut drink that taste like sour plum. Other than cashew products, you can also find other food items such as crackers and candies.
Tip: Check if they were having any promotions like Buy 10 Free 1.
Then, it was elephant riding time! Located at a place call the Island Safari Adventure camp, a popular place where most people experience elephant riding for the first time. Other than that, there were also monkey and elephant shows prepared during your visit.
After that, we had a quick stop at Promthep Cape, one of Phuket’s famous viewpoints. It’s located all the way up southernmost hill, overlooking the spectacular view of Andaman Sea, Indian Ocean. It’s also a popular location to watch sunset
Finally, we had a two-hour shopping time at Jungceylon Shopping Complex. Located opposite Bangla Road, this 200 over stores complex comes with branded goods, supermarket, 16-lane bowling alley, five-room SF Cinema, and a wide selection of food stalls and restaurants.
We left Patong Beach around 6pm, back to the ship, just in time for dinner!
