ACUVUE®, in collaboration with the Association of Malaysian Optometrists (AMO), have developed a Contact Lens Practice Guidelines for eye care professionals who are certified by the Malaysian Optical Council (MOC). The Guidelines will assist eye care professionals in making a detailed evaluation and diagnosis before providing prescriptions for contact lens users.

The joint effort support the requirements outlined by the MOC, which requires consumers to have an eye examination and consultation with a qualified eye care professional before contact lenses are prescribed.

Officially presented to the Ministry of Health Malaysia at the opening ceremony of the National Eye Health Awareness Campaign (NEHA) 2016 on 22 October, the Guidelines cover four crucial steps in the usage of contact lens, which are: 

• Contact Lens Fitting Procedure
• Contact Lens Dispensing Procedure
• Contact Lens After Care Check-Up
• Contact Lens Replenishing Procedure

The Guidelines will be available to the public by end of 2016.
