The two-month long Bio-Oil ‘My Scar My Story’ Campaign which was launched on November 1st 2015 received positive response with more than 100 scar stories shared by women all over Malaysia to inspire other women who are undergoing emotional distress as a result of their physical scars.
The campaign draws to a close with the selection of the three most inspiring scar stories submitted during the campaign period, which ended on December 31st, 2015. The three most inspiring stories picked were from Caroline Yap, Hajarul Falenna and Arisa Chow; each with unique encounters and stories that serves as an inspiration to others.
Caroline Yap, 41, obtained slash wounds and survived 29 stitches from a snatch theft incident but that incident has inspired her to take a different perspective in life as to appreciate the little things in life, set her priorities differently and most importantly live for the moment. Hajarul Falenna, 26, got her scar from a surgery she underwent for scoliosis which reminded her of the sufferings she went through but it has also changed her life for the better, as her is posture now corrected. Arisa Chow, 22, who has multiple scars on her body, shared how she underwent depression which led her to self-inflicted injuries and how she overcame her scarring problems.
Each of these three winners received a Luxury Retreat Package at a 5-star resort for two. The 1st prize worth RM4,000 went to Caroline Yap, 2nd prize worth RM3,000 went to Hazarul Falenna while the 3rd prize worth RM2,000 went to Arisa Chow. Throughout the campaign, up to 5 winners were selected weekly to win Bio-Oil hampers worth RM100.
Apart from offering an online platform for women to share their scar story, the microsite www.myscarmystory.com.my also offered tips on scar management by Dr Nazirin Ariffin, a renowned dermatologist from Pantai Hospital. The microsite received more than 53,000 unique visitors and 77,000 page views. Though the campaign has ended, Bio-Oil will still be maintaining its microsite until the end of March with the hope of inspiring more women with the stories. Every scar has a story that reminds us of life’s episodes but more importantly it also makes us stronger.
