As we celebrate the holy month of Ramadhan, it truly was a joy to see the bright and happy smiles on the faces of the children from the charity homesas they dined on the delicious feast that was served for buka puasa. Colgate-Palmolive, as part of their Mari Beramal Bersama Colgate Campaign, hosted the buka puasa feast at Rumah Tamu Datin Halijah yesterday.
As many as 93 children from 4 homes under the administration of the Social Welfare Department of Klang Valley attended the event and celebrated the break fast meal together. The function was also hosted by Fimie Don, the young Malaysian actor and popular TV personality who laughed and joked with the children the entire evening. The children also had the opportunity to showcase their talents by performing various acts throughout the event.
Other than hosting the event, Fimie Don also took the opportunity to give inspiration to the children by encouraging them to chase their dreams. Fimie, personally has achieved many milestones in his young life in the Malaysian film and TV industry and he conveyed this to the children by encouraging them that everything is possible through hard work and determination.
This buka puasa feast is one of the elements of the Mari Beramal Bersama Colgate Campaign, a programme that is part of the Colgate’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts which helps and gives back to the local community. Consumers can also be a part of this charity effort by purchasing Colgate’s Charity pack featuring the Colgate Maximum Cavity Protection with Sugar Acid Neutralizer and Colgate Kayu Sugi that can be found in all major retailers starting from 1 July 2014 to 31 August 2014. Through the purchase of these charity packs, RM 0.10 from every single pack or RM 0.20 from every twin pack that is purchased will go towards the charity homes.
Throughout the Mari Beramal Bersama Colgate Campaign, Colgate also paid a visit to Pertubuhan Kebajikan Amal Rukaiyah on the 17th of June recently. Colgate volunteers spent their time cleaning the surroundings of the home, painted the walls, added bookshelves and reorganized the furniture as part of the effort to provide a more conducive studying area for the children. Additionally, Colgate also organized ‘Kem Kejar Impian’ in Excel Training & Country Resort from 21 – 22 June in line with the Mari Beramal Bersama Colgate 2014 campaign theme – “Dream big – everything is possible!” All sorts of activities aimed at building positive attitudes and teamwork among the children were carried out. Some of the activities were obstacle courses, a paintball competition and motivational talks by famed motivational speaker Datuk Dr. Fadzilah Kamsah.
