JD Sports, British sportswear retail giant, officially opened its doors to KL’s sneaker fans today. At 13,587 square feet large with over 8,000 square feet of retail space, the latest outlet in the new Pavilion Elite will be the flagship store for Malaysia and is the largest in South-East Asia.
The Pavilion Elite store comes after their first outlet opening in Sunway Pyramid that has seen mobs of fans frequent the outlet day to day. In line with plans to expand the brand in Malaysia and cultivate the already booming sneaker culture in Malaysia, JD Sports’ latest addition will be able to offer kicks collectors a wider range of some of the most sought after trainers in the market.
Dubbed the Undisputed “King of Trainers”, the Pavilion Elite launch did not disappoint, with the exclusive colourways for the Nike Air Max 2017, the Reebok Classic Leather, and the widely anticipated Adidas NMD XR1 trainers all available during the official launch. Additionally on display were the one-of-a-kind gold Adidas Superstars that JD Sports was recently awarded for selling over one million pairs of in 2016.
As a strong multi-sport brand, the JD launch attracted a large number of local sportspeople and celebrities from all the major players in the industry, led by the #TEAMJDMY crew, consisting of MYFM radio DJ Joe Chang, Roshan Chandrasekhar from K-Town Clan, social media influencer Hanie Hidayah, Astro Supersports’ Amanda Chaang, power couple Kim Raymond and Keith Foo, beauty pageant winner Livonia and Noh Salleh, lead singer and guitarist from Hujan.
As part of their continuing global expansion plans, JD Sports is targeting further store launches in the coming year, and to commence internet ordering and home delivery in the near future.
