Laneige Malaysia and the Malaysian Environmental NGOs (MENGO) have successfully raised close to RM35,000 as of May 31st since the launch of the Waterful Sharing Campaign on May 1st.
Installation works of the rainwater harvesting system for the first three homes namely Rainbow Home, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ehsan Ash-Shakur (PEKEAS) and Rumah Kebajikan Anbu Illam will commence in mid-June and are expected to complete by the end of June.
With only less than two months away from the conclusion of the Waterful Sharing Campaign 2015 which ends on July 31st, Laneige Malaysia hopes to be able to achieve its target in raising RM60,000 to facilitate the installation of the rainwater harvesting system at all the six children homes which have been selected.
During the Waterful Sharing Campaign period, Laneige will donate RM10 from the sale of each jar of Water Sleeping Mask to the fund, which will be used to facilitate the installation of rainwater harvesting system at the six homes.
The other three homes that will be receiving the rainwater harvesting system towards the end of the campaign are Rumah K.I.D.S, Rumah Amal Cahaya Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (RACTAR) and Rumah Bakti.
The rainwater harvesting system that will be installed at the homes aids in reducing the usage of treated water and enabling the homes to enjoy continuous supply of water. Through this system, rainwater will be collected and recycled for non-drinking purposes such as toilet flushing, cleaning, washing and watering plants. This simple yet innovative way to recycle rainwater will not only reduce the water bill but it also functions as an alternative water source during a water crisis.
