Laneige’s Waterful Sharing Campaign 2015 was a success with RM100,000 raised from the 10,000 jars of Water Sleeping Mask sold during the campaign period which ended on the 31st of July 2015.
With the funds raised, Laneige Malaysia together with the Malaysian Environmental NGOs (MENGO) have successfully installed the rainwater harvesting system at all six children’s homes in Selangor namely Rainbow Home, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ehsan Ash-Shakur, Rumah Kebajikan Anbu Illam, Rumah K.I.D.S, Rumah Bakti and Rumah Amal Cahaya Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (RACTAR).
The rainwater harvesting system installed at the homes aids in reducing the usage of treated water while enabling the homes to enjoy continuous supply of clean water. Using this system, rainwater is collected and recycled for non-drinking purposes such as toilet flushing, cleaning, washing and watering plants. This simple yet innovative way to harvest rainwater not only reduces the water bill but also functions as an alternative water source during a water crisis.
As part of the Laneige Waterful Sharing Campaign programme, MENGO will be making regular visits to all nine homes including the 3 homes who received the rainwater harvesting system during last year’s campaign. This is to ensure that the system runs smoothly and to also continuously educate the children on the many usages of the rainwater harvesting system. Children will also be taught on how to test the cleanliness of the water as well as the ways of maintaining the system to preserve its lifespan.
