Renowned for their ceaseless effort, dedication and passion in watchmaking, Seiko Watch Corporation commemorates its 50th year of timepiece engineering expertise with the unveiling of its latest addition to its Seiko Prospex Marinemaster Professional JAMSTEC Collection.
The relationship between time and depth for a diver is highly critical. The watch needs to be reliable in meeting impact and exceeds the expectations of water resistance, while ensuring time accuracy in extreme conditions as well as providing visibility in the undersea darkness.
As a master of timepiece architecture, SEIKO acknowledges the positive growth of diving watch interest in Malaysia and its neighbouring countries. This is thanks to its long stretches of spectacular tropical reefs and marine life, which sits in the heart of the world’s richest marine bio-diversified locations.
Its remarkable history begun since 1965, after years of research and development was the world’s first Professional Diver’s 600m with titanium case watch. Since then, SEIKO has continued to work towards astonishing progressions to provide the best offerings to its fellow diving enthusiasts.
Every piece of SEIKO diving watch exudes elegance, adventure and sleek comfort. The collection remains one of the most popular timepiece categories, for its sporty yet casual style that is a perfect companion to adventurous crusaders or even fashion aficionados.
This latest model comes with limited edition features such as movement beats at 36,000 times per hour (10 times per second) ensuring reliable accuracy, water resistance specifications suitable for diving using mixed-gas including helium (saturation diving).
It is a diver’s watch designed for full professional use, able to withstand pressure at depths of up to 1,000m and Anodisaing, which is a surface treatment using electrolytes to cover a material with an artificial oxide layer. Colour is produced according to the materials refractive index of light and the thickness of the oxide layer can be used to create a range of different shades.
Besides that, the colour of the pure iron dial is a dark blue-green, giving the feel of the ocean deep, with a beautifully moulded pattern reminiscent of waves. The ‘Hi-Beat 36,000’ lettering uses a vivid blue colour representing JAMSTEC and the sea.
Powered by such good limited edition features, this is an astonishing and innovative piece limited to 500 pieces only around the world that is specially catered for divers. Divers can now explore the deep blue ocean with ease.
