Malaysia has sent its condolences to Indonesia following the crash of an Indonesian military aircraft in Medan, Sumatera.
According to CNN, an Indonesian Air Force Hercules C-130 aircraft is reported to have crashed in a public housing area in Medan, north Sumatra, at 11.50am on 30th June 2015, leaving at least 70 people dead so far.
Indonesian television stations reported that the plane crashed into the Royal Gardenia housing estate in Medan, destroying many houses and that up to 49 bodies had been retrieved so far and brought to the Adam Malik Hospital in the city.
In a brief statement, the Foreign Affairs Ministry sated that its Consulate General in Medan has confirmed that no Malaysians have been reported to be involved in the tragedy so far.
“Malaysia wishes to extend its deep sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the government and people of the Republic of Indonesia especially and bereaved family members on their loss.”
The ministry will continue to monitor the situation through its Consulate General.
