Today, Netflix announced the launch of a new mobile plan for Malaysia. At RM17/month, members will be able to watch all of Netflix’s content—with no interruptions or ads—in standard definition (SD) on one smartphone or tablet at a time. Malaysians now have four plans to choose from, in addition to the existing Basic, Standard and Premium.
The Mobile plan gives users access to all of Netflix’s entire local and international catalogue, with no ads, no-hassle cancellation, and Parental Controls to make informed viewing choices for their families. Netflix continues to improve the mobile experience with features like Smart Downloads, mobile previews, adaptive UI, and sharing to social media.
As of 2019, 88% of Malaysians own smartphones. And online entertainment is important to them: According to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s (MCMC) 2018 Internet Users Survey, 78% of Malaysia’s internet users spent time streaming and downloading entertainment. Netflix members in Malaysia already watch twice as much content on their phones as the average member. The Mobile plan is tailor-made to broaden access to Netflix in this truly mobile-first nation.

The Netflix library of local content continues to grow, with hits such as the Polis Evo series, Paskal, Munafik 2, Till Death: Azalea’s Wrath, Jagat, and the award-winning Crossroads: One Two Jaga. Netflix’s first Chinese language original series, The Ghost Bride, premieres in January 2020, and is filmed and produced in Malaysia.
