Red snow crab is pack with sweet flavours and they are usually sold in leg and claw clusters alongs with some meat from their body attached to it. They are also cooked in various styles but in this restaurant, in Samcheok City, that we tried, we were all onto the steamed snow crab! It’s known as the most popular way to eat snowcrab as the crab meat is already well-seasoned with salt water.
When the steamed snowcrabs are served, every parts of the crabs are separated and organized on the serving plate. The legs and claws and usually all been cut through vertically on one side so it’s easier for us to indulge in. The meat of the crab is so tender and juicy, definitely the highlight of the meal. We couldn’t stop consuming them.
After that, we also had Spicy soup with Red Snowcrab and Ramyeon. Generally, the smaller parts of the crab leg that are harder to open are usually used to in soups to make them taste better. However, in our case, it seems like they’ve also just added the bigger parts of the crabs into the soup. It’s really yummy.
The other unique dish you should really try is the fried rice after having steamed snowcrab. It’s common for them to serve fried rice with the snowcrab’s intestines and leftover crabmeat along with some seaweed. However, it has quite an acquired flavour to it which most probably comes from the intestine part of the crab. Thus, it’s either you’ll love or hate it.
