Bras are one of the least donated and most needed items in many third world countries. To many, donating a bra may seem like nothing, many might even wonder who would actually want second hand bras, but to a sex trafficking victim, a bra be life-changer in terms of recovering one’s dignity and also to provide one with a steady stream of income in the second-hand clothing market
Ms Cecilia Roh, National Coordinator of UPLIFT MALAYSIA stated that for the women in Kathmandu, Nepal, it’s their poverty that forces them to make a choice: they rather choose to survive with what little money they have for food than to protect their dignity. The ones that are lucky enough to be saved end up arriving in shelter and safe houses with nothing but the clothes on their back, which is why bras and other intimate items are in such high demand.
The “Old Bras for Cash” starts from the 25th September – 2nd November 2014. Just drop off your old bras at any Neubodi outlet nearby. Air Asia X is the official flight sponsor for this charitable trail to Nepal in November once all the donated bras were consolidated and packed by the end of the campaign.
