With 2014 World Cup in just hours away, Nike Football unleashed its latest 5-minute commercial in the “Risk Everything “campaign. Risking it all by animating the soccer players, that’s new for a company that depends heavily on star power.
“The Last Game” staring versions of Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jnr, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Andrés Iniesta, Franck Ribery, David Luiz and Tim Howard were cloned by a mad scientist, creating robot-like footballers that are much more precise and better. Ultimately, kicking the Originals (the human version footballers) out from the games and took over football entirely. No spoilers but it’s obvious, The Last Game involves man vs. machine.
It felt as if Nike was inspired by Pixar. The animation style reminds us of The Incredibles and Despicable Me. The storyline was simple but witty, a very refreshing advertisement as compared to the rest. Have fun watching Ronaldo as a showroom dummy, Rooney as a fisherman and Neymar as a hairdresser!
