More than 1,000 fitness enthusiasts came together over the weekend to participate in the country’s first-of-its-kind sports and performance event, called the ‘House of Hustle’.
Organised for the first time in Malaysia by global sports brand PUMA, the two-day event was held in Sentul Depot and it saw the coming together of the best of fitness training and team sports with functional training sessions and competitive 3-on-3 Futsal and Basketball tournaments housed under one roof.
The ‘House of Hustle’ was the first program in line with the Youth and Sports Ministry’s latest initiative, ‘Bulan Sukan Negara’ (National Sports Month), which aims to empower unity through sports and cultivate sports and wellness as a way of life among Malaysians.
Surrounding the sides of the hall were a plethora of lifestyle and food vendors. A few noteworthy booths presented included lens meter testing by Zeiss, sneaker dry cleaning by Shoe Mo, and sport rehabilitation by Precise Rehab.
Accompanying the event atmosphere with pumped-up tunes were other exciting activities such as ninja warrior obstacle challenge, punching bags, golf simulator, basketball shooting challenge, vertical jumping test, and a photo wall to keep participants entertained throughout the day.
Fitness and Training Classes: Animal Flow, Rhythmic Boxing and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)
Designed to test the participants’ willpower and limit, three sweat-busting fitness classes of 50 minutes per routine were conducted at the main stage area. The first was Animal Flow guided by Babel Fit, where participants were challenged to put their muscular endurance to the test and experience their muscles being stretched mimicking animal-like movements.
The second class was Rhythmic Boxing led by TRIBE Boxing, which aimed to combine boxing movements such as punches, jabs and hooks with body conditioning and cardio all in one setting.
The third and last class was High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) instructed by Ministry of Burn, tailored to strengthen participants through a series of non-stop, heart-pumping movements and body strengthening routines.
Adding a Competitive Edge: 3-on-3 Futsal and 3-on-3 Basketball Tournaments
Specifically for fans of basketball and futsal, the ‘House of Hustle’ also hosted 3-on-3 Futsal and 3-on-3 Basketball tournaments. The competition saw winning teams from both tournaments bringing home exclusive PUMA cash vouchers totalling up to RM19,000, with both the champion teams walking away with RM 5,000 each, first runners-up receiving RM 3,000 each, and second runners-up collecting RM 1,500 each worth of PUMA cash vouchers.
PUMA TRAC: The brand’s latest free training application
PUMA also showcased participants at the ‘House of Hustle’ to the latest PUMA TRAC app, a free training application for smartphones.
Promising a personalised user experience with interactive features such as a social leader-board to interact with other users, Spotify integration, a discovery option for new running routes, amongst others, the app is also able to track more than 30 different types of activities including running, cycling, swimming, yoga, football and many more.
A diverse range of virtual lessons for workouts such as HIIT, strength training, ballet and pilates conducted by Puma trainers and ambassadors will also be made available for the users.
Speaking of PUMA’s commitment and support towards creating a healthy and active nation, Tham mentioned that the company has always been looking at ways to encourage Malaysians to stay active together.
The flagship event was organised in support of sponsors and partners including Yakult, Zeiss, Unilever, Salonpas, Precise Rehab, Shoe Mo, and Yogood.
