The city of Sfax is known for its well preserved medina (old town) and souks.With a Mediterranean climate, hot dry summers and temperate winters, the best time to visit Tunisia is the spring between mid-March and mid-May. Summer is good for those looking for the beaches, but this is also the peak season, and the resorts are crowded with visitors from Europe. Summer is too hot in the desert so anyone who does not want to miss a visit to the Sahara dunes should schedule the trip in late fall.
