Most of us are not big fans of tomato juice but here’s an interesting fact you can try the next time you fly because apparently, tomato juice taste better in the air and this theory is not just made up.
When you are on a plane, the pressure is lower. Our blood gets less oxygen that makes our taste receptors less sensitive. Plus, the air in cabin is drier, thus dries out your nose and mouth, which reduce your sense of taste even more. Thus, everything you eat or drink on a place taste like it does when we have a cold.
Tomato juice on the other hand is described to have a pleasant fruity aroma with a sweet, cooling taste while consuming it on air. However, it’s described as earthy and musty when it’s consumed on land with a normal pressure.
Even with the scientific reasoning behind this theory, some people drink tomato juice on a plane because it’s filling and some even helps with airsickness.
We don’t know about you but we are definitely going to test this theory out ourselves.
