A unique showcase of fashion, art and music inspired by the streets of Kuala Lumpur, fondly entitled Streetlove was held at the Spanish steps of Avenue K Shopping Mall. The uber cool, spontaneous affair was organised by edgy designer label, Yasmin Ramli, in conjunction with the launch of its latest collection.
SULTAN
The casual street culture spectacular began with local label, Sultan opening the catwalk with 8 of its unique looks. The unusual models were seen skateboarding and demonstrating yoga positions while adorning Sultan’s comfortable signature looks.
WOLGANG KL
Next up was Wolgang KL and its wolf pack confidently strolling down the catwalk in black, cool outfits with plenty of attitude to boot. This high street collective tags itself as a movement that incorporates the essence of fashion, music and street culture into its range of everyday attire which consist mainly of t-shirts, sweaters and active wear featuring their signature font and branding.
SUPER SUNDAY
The Super Sunday followed closely behind showing off their bold range of t-shirts, trousers, skirts and utilitarian footwear and caps. Their aim to create exclusive clothing pieces of timeless style through their love for urban art and individuality was apparent in their vast collection of mostly black and white pieces.
YASMIN RAMLI
The highlight of the night did not disappoint as the Fall/Winter collection of When Our Eyes Met, took to the catwalk with ease and grace. The stark, raw yet regal appearances of the models captured the mood of the collection. Biker-style jacket cum dress hybrids, blue leather pockets, triangular denim cutout detailing and a lot of metal hardware elements are found as the zippers, studs and snap buttons line and add depth to the pieces. Back to the basics of Punk fashion, but with the sharp, modern edge of Yasmin Ramli.
She pushes her boundaries from an almost architectural flat sketch that perfectly translates into its 3-dimensional result in this recent offering. The brand’s famed black melting heart icon is a feature on a grey, contemporary smart casual dress while the denim dresses and skirts with mixed fabrics were a crowd favourite. Trousers and a dress in black leather matched with funky boots also caught the eye of many.
The looks were also nicely complemented by headphones sponsored by German audio system Sennheiser, who came in as a partner of the event.
