Grand Canal Land announced its plan to build a 615-metre “Rama IX Super Tower” with 125-storey office and 6-star hotel space. Costing at 18-billion-baht, it’s set for completion by 2019 on 73 rai od land in the Grand Rama 9 mixed-use development site near the intersection of Ratchadapisek Road.
Other than the 90,000 sq metres of office space and a luxurious hotel with 260 rooms, there will also be an observation tower for tourist and a rooftop garden on lower floor.
It’s set to be the tallest tower in Thailand, topping Baiyok II tower at 328.4 metres and Mahanakhon condominium 314 metres.
If built today, “Super Tower” would be standing on third place in the world while being the tallest tower in the Asean region as the current tallest building is the Petronas twin towers in Kuala Lumpur at 375 metres.
Of course, “Super Tower” is a temporary name and the building is set to build to the platinum-level certification of the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED).
