This pentagonal arena will be the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2018 Winter Olympics and the 2018 Winter Paralympics. Located in Daegwallyeong-myoen, it will also serve as the medal plaza during the games, hosting medal ceremonies. It’s 860, 000 sq ft and will fit 50, 000 seats, which will be dismantled after the Games. There will be an exhibition hall beside the stadium, food markets and other attractions.
It’s the first to complete in 1998 but then it was renovated again that was complete in 2007. It has the capacity of 7500 people with 4500 people seated. 11 expected sporting events will be held in this place.
This stadium is known as the symbol of 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic. Originally, it was built to hold the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2018 Winter Olympics but later on was decided to have them at the PyeongChang Olympic Stadium instead. This venue will host the bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton events for the 2018 Winter Olympics. It’s able to accommodate 7000 people with only 1000 seats. 9 expected sporting events to be held here.
Similarly to Alpensia Biathlon Centre, the Alpensia Cross-Country Skiing Centre was also first completed in 1998, and then had gone through a renovation that was completed in 2009. It has the capacity of 7500 people with 4500 seats. 12 Cross-Country Skiing events are expected to be held here.
Also completed in 1998, the YongPyong Alpine Centre had hosted four FIS Alpine World Cups Games as well as the 2006 IPC Paralympic WorldCup. It has a capacity of 6000 with 2500 people seated. Expected to hold 5 Alpine Skiing sporting events here next year.
Bokwang Pheonix Snow Park is one of South Korea’s famous ski resort and the location were used multiple times as a k-drama shooting location, such as Autumn In My Heart, Winter Sonata, and Goblin. This place will be the venue for freestyle skiing and snowboard sporting events during the 2018 Winter Olympics.
