In Thailand, an ad agency, BBDO Bangkok, and the Thai government health board invented “AbsorbPlate” where it’s an ordinary-looking plate that claims to soak up to about 7ml of oil, or 30 calories on average from every meal that’s on it.

The science behind this is the sponge surface of the plate that contains 500 perforated holes to absorb the oil from your meal into the bottom of each cervice. The best part, you can wash the plate!

Thai cuisine is known to be oily, thus is product is part of the Thai government’s efforts to combat obesity in Thailand. The plate has already been launched for trial with thousands of plates has been distributed to local restaurants.
