While vacationing in Argentina in 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie was deeply affected by the impoverished children he saw walking around barefoot, which puts them at risk for serious infections. With a great desire to help, Mycoskie set out to form TOMS, a for-profit business based on an innovative One for One business model. TOMS would match every pair of shoes purchased with a new pair of shoes for a child in need.
Since its inception, TOMS has provided more than 10 million pairs of new shoes to children in need around the globe. TOMS collaborate with more than 75 giving partners in more than 60 countries, who integrate the shoe giving into their everyday work, such as health checkups, distribution of medicine and vaccine and microfinance programs. TOMS establishes sustainable relationships with these Giving Partners so they can provide new shoes to children as they grow.
TOMS is in business to help improve lives - to identify global needs and create products to help address them.
In 2011, TOMS eyewear was launched; for every pair of glasses sold, TOMS will give free eye treatment to someone in need through sight-saving surgery, medical treatment, or prescription glasses. The move proved that TOMS is more than just a brand – it’s a movement that is revolutionising the way we shop.
From July 15th onwards a wide variety of shoes and eyewear from TOMS latest collection will be available in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. Keeping in style with the TOMS trend of comfort in style, affordability and quality the all vegan collection presents a tropical touch with daring prints and pops of colour as well as a carefree and charismatic array of colourful matte pieces and fades. TOMS welcomes the tiniest of toes with classics for the youth and fun colours and prints on favourite silhouettes like Biminis and Paseos for the tiny.
TOMS eyewear comes in a variety of colours and styles, all with TOMS signature design detail. The temples of each pair of sunglasses features a hand-painted colour and white stripe. It signifies the bond between the consumer and person being helped, with the white stripe representing TOMS as bridging the two together - a stylish eye for a needful eye.
TOMS store opens in Pavilion on 15th July 2014.
