If you don’t already know, Touch N Go (TnG) introduced a new way of cashless payment in the form of a watch. They called it the Time Traveller. It’s made out of rubber that only tells time and can be use as an alternative to the usual TnG card.
With the watch, similarly to a regular TnG card, you’ll have to bring the watch up close to the reader. For someone with short hands like mine, in a toll stop, I will have to drive super close to the reader. I personally think I can at least try to extend the regular a little bit further as compared to the watch attached to my wrist, which means if I have the watch on, I must drive even closer to the reader. This is probably not very convenient for the not-so-daring-drivers out there to drive extremely close to the reader at a toll on a highway. Thus, I got myself a SmartTag for a reason.
The watch cost RM239, available at the TnG Hub at KL Sentral and Bangsar South but if you purchase through 11Street, it will only cost you RM222. Funny thing is that 11Street is advertising the price before discount as RM253.34 when the retail price from TnG is RM239. Print screen as below:

Even with the discount, it’s still quite pricey to begin with. It’s a stainless steel band with silicon rubber strap and acrylic glass face. There’s only black and white to choose from, which is really not a big deal. What concerns us is the design not being appealing enough to adults.
Quoting from a known Tech website SoyaCincau.com, it critics that “…if you’re someone with money to burn, odds are you’d have something more stylish on your wrist. I honestly can’t see anyone trading in their Daniel Wellingtons for this TimeTraveller… Compared to the RM10 or so you pay for a regular card, RM200+ is an absolute fortune to spend on something that you would then have to top-up more money into just to use it.” The writer makes a whole load of sense here.
Stuff.tv even suggest people to buy the ordinary TnG card or a co-branded TnG card, “For the cost-conscious, you'd be better off just buying an ordinary Touch N Go card or a co-branded Touch N Go card such as the Watsons loyalty cards. As the device doesn't even come with preloaded Touch N Go credit, it's difficult to justify the purchase.”
We see this being more suitable for kids where the parents are afraid that their kids is out or go missing and have no money to catch a ride home or even have a meal when they are hungry. It kind of gives the kid something to survive on if they are street smart enough. Of course, we hope parents don’t lose their kid at all.
Other than that, this watch will only be suitable for those who have a lot to carry always and takes the public transport regularly. Also, this is probably a good alternative for adults who can’t keep a card properly and constantly misplacing them for whatever reason.
