I had a trip to Vietnam last month and I was given the opportunity to fly with Vietjet for the very first time. Excited? Yes, as Danang was one of the places I’ve wanted to visit since the giant hand bridge went viral a while back.
At the moment, Vietjet doesn’t have a direct flight to Danang from Malaysia. Thus, my trip was extended to spending two nights in Ho Chi Minh City since the partner I travelled with was stepping into the land of Pho for the very first time, and he loves Pho.
We had four flights in total within our 6 days trip. Not too bad since we had Skyboss seats for all flights. This includes having a business lounge to chill before boarding. It was a huge difference from the norm that I’m used to waiting somewhere within the airport. I’ll cover all four business lounges in another article. Here, I’ll give my thoughts on flying with Vietjet.
Checking-in were a breeze as they have dedicated priority lane for Skyboss customer. If you watch my video, you’ll be able to see how much queue we skipped! Even when there was a short line within the priority lane, once they were informed that you are a Skyboss customer, check-in priority will still be given to you.
The shuttle services to the plane or airport were very much different too. Skyboss customers are transported with a bus that has seats while the ones in economy are transported with a bus that are mostly standing. Majority of the time, we had the entire bus to ourselves.
After taking all flights, the first thing that I noticed was the aircrafts are all a little different. There was no distinct area for Skyboss seats and economy seats but some aircrafts do have curtains to provide some privacy for the ones in Skyboss seats. We sat on the first row for all our flights and it was comfortable with wide leg room. Flight attendant who were in charge of us were all really polite and graceful. Most of the time, we were given priority to board and leave the plane first. Sometimes, we were even escorted to collect our bags.
Food wise, from the booklet, there were a ton of choices however, it’s subjected to availability. I believe all four flights we took only have Nasi Lemak and some other dishes that can be easily found in Malaysia. We were hoping for a meal that a little more Vietnamese, thus we ended up with instant Pho, Nam Vang instant noodles, and dried jackfruit as snack in every flight. Not complaining, it was our first time trying instant Pho and we find them pretty good actually. We were hoping to try their Banh Mi but none of the flights had them. Oh, by the way, the food were free.
If there anything to critic, I have to say that some aircrafts were pretty loud. Especially the first flight I took from KLIA to Ho Chi Minh, I wasn’t prepared for the noise that was coming from the plane. Thankfully, it got better after taking off but I still recommend prepping your earbuds or headphones throughout the flight. The other three aircraft felt newer and they weren’t as noisy as the first one I took. Additionally, one of my flight got delayed by about an hour but it was acceptable as the weather that night was rough. This is where we were really thankful for the lounge.
Though overall, I can say that I enjoyed flying with the Skyboss privileges. Service was amazing and the additional benefits really make every journey a pleasant one. For more information, visit www.vietjetair.com
