The Technicon Design France team, an international design agency, recently received a prize at the International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2014 in London for their IXION windowless jet concept.
They came up with a controversial yet interesting idea of removing the windows from the cabin and replace them with a very near future technology to display the exterior environment to the inside surface of the cabin via external cameras. This will greatly enhance guest flight experience to the point of exhilaration by giving an unhindered panoramic view from the inside.
That’s not all. You can also see different views at the same time on the same screen, all thanks to the parallax barrier technology. In simple terms, if you hate the view, you can choose to watch a movie or even video chat with your love ones on the walls of the plane. How cool is that!
The other benefit of removing the windows is the reduction of weight, which simplifies construction and opens up an enormous spectrum of possibilities for interior design. The team also have the idea to couple it with amorphous solar panels that power the low voltage systems on board and thus offer a unique visual dynamic for the exterior.
