Before you get confused, the great bunch of people from Cameralah.com made a comparison with the GoPro HERO, which is GoPro’s more affordable action camera. This is not a comparison with the latest GoPro HERO4.

The most affordable action camera in GoPro’s collection is still much more costly than the Yi. Though, there are some advantages with the HERO such as it comes permanently installed in its shock and waterproof enclosure, ready to take any number of related accessories already available in the market. 

The HERO also has a front facing LCD that simplifies mode selection and checking of the camera status while the YI still needs to be paired with another device to know what you are doing with the camera. 

Other than that, the YI is still quite an attractive action camera to have, especially with the low price point, most people might just choose the Yi over the HERO.
